2021-2029 Housing Element Draft Update Planning Commission Study Session
The Planning Commission is holding a study session on the 2021-2029 update of the City of Malibu General Plan Housing Element which establishes and implements specific goals, policies, and objectives relative to the provision of housing for all income levels consistent with all applicable state housing element law.
No legislative action will be taken at this meeting. Once the Planning Commission conducts its review, the draft will be submitted to the City Council for additional review and revision. The draft will then be sent to the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Following its review an updated draft will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council for final review and adoption.
All interested persons are invited to participate in the study session and submit comments regarding housing needs in Malibu as well as potential strategies for addressing housing needs.
Recommended Action: 1) Received staff’s presentation; 2) receive public comments, and 3) Provide comments to staff on the draft Housing Element, as appropriate.

As a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the City is under a state of local emergency, as well as states of emergency that have been declared in the County of Los Angeles, state of California, and a federal emergency declared by the President of the United States.  In order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, consistent with these emergency measures, the Planning Commission study session will be open and public but conducted via teleconference only. This way the public the staff, and the Commission will not be physically in the same place.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit written correspondence to [email protected] for any item on which they would like to comment.  Public participation through electronic or telephonic means will be allowed consistent with the following (details on how to participate telephonically or electronically will be available in an amended agenda at malibucity.org/agendacenter.)
