NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mayor has called a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Malibu to be held at virtually at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, for the purpose of hosting a housing element workshop. City Councilmembers may be present to listen to the presentation and public comments but will not deliberate on any matters.

 
Housing Element Workshop
The City of Malibu is hosting a virtual workshop to encourage public participation and increase understanding and awareness regarding the preparation of the update to the Housing Element of the City’s General Plan.

The purpose of the virtual workshop is to provide community stakeholders with an overview of the State-mandated update to the Housing Element of the City’s General Plan for the 2021-2029 planning period. During the workshop, members of the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the preparation of the Housing Element. There will be additional opportunities for public comment at meetings of the City Planning Commission and the City Council

 As a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the City is under a state of local emergency, as well as states of emergency that have been declared in the County of Los Angeles, state of California, and a federal emergency declared by the President of the United States.  In order to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19, consistent with these emergency measures, the City Council meeting will be open and public but conducted via teleconference only. This way the public, the staff, and the Council will not be physically in the same place.
